Harry E. Markle, 60 years, of Mountain Road, Perry County, Greenwood Twp, Millerstown, PA was welcomed into the presence of his Lord, Jesus Christ at 10:22am Tuesday March 1, 2005 at his home on Perry View Farm following a courageous struggle with long-term illness. He was born on Aug 29, 1944 in Dauphin County PA, the son of David E. and Mildred (McGowan) Markle of Millerstown. On August 4, 1968 he married his love, Joyce A. Bohn, who shared his earthly life for 36 years. Harry graduated from Greenwood High School in 1963 and in 1967 earned an Associate Degree in Engineering from Harrisburg Area Community College. He graduated from Penn State University, University Park in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
He was employed for 29 years as an associate with JCPenny at the Harrisburg East Mall, and worked on both his own land and family farms. He retired from Penny's in 1999 due to illness, but continued to support the work on his farm. He cherished his beloved wife and their children, always putting them first. Harry loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and shooting, was a member of the NRA, and had been nicknamed "Sure Shot" at an early age. He was an avid Penn State football fan, a life time member of the PSU alumni association and greatly enjoyed spending time and talking with friends and family. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Perry Valley and his favorite bible passage was Psalms 121.
In addition to his loving mother, father and wife, his strong spirit and giving heart live on in his four children that adore him: his son Daniel E. Markle, at the farm, Christine A. Markle in Mill Hall PA, Karen A. Steele and her husband, Michael J. Steele, in Williamsport PA, who were engaged on his 60th birthday, and Teresa A. Markle in Akron OH. His brother James D. Markle, his sister-in-law Carol and their two children also survive. Harry was preceded by his grandparents Pappy and Grandma Markle and his in-laws Leslie A. and Frances M. Bohn of Waynesboro, PA.
